There's no place like Sewanee

So, the other weekend Chris and I flew to Tennessee for Elizabeth Howard and Tom Jones' wedding and it was a greatly needed weekend getaway. We left Dallas on the 7:15 am flight to Nashville where we rented a car and drove down to Chattanooga for the day. We ate some good barbecue at the downtown Sticky Fingers and walked all around downtown - along the Walnut Street Bridge, to the Bluff View Art District and around the Aquarium. We then went up to the top of Lookout Mountain where we toured Rock City which is pretty cool with winding paths along rocks and a suspended bridge and then the famous Lover's Leap which has an awesome view where you can see 7 states! We also did Ruby Falls which was a tour deep below the earth's surface which ended at a pretty waterfall below ground. There were really cool rock formations in the caverns which almost made me wish I had taken geology at Sewanee. We then headed up to Sewanee where I introduced Chris to the wonder that is Shenanigan's. He aboslutely loved that place and said he would be there every night if he had gone to school there. Saturday was frickin' freezing in Sewanee - the typical weather of fog, mist and really cold weather. Erin, Chris and I braved the weather and hiked to Piney Point, the Sewanee Natural Bridge and went to the Cross. Lizzy's wedding was beautiful and I loved the groom's cake which was the Sewanee gates. Boone surprised Stacey on Saturday morning and proposed to her! Sunday all of us went to Pearl's brunch which was a nice end to the weekend. It was so wonderful to get some Sewanee time in, and to see Stacey, Erin, Jean and Lane because I've been missing them!
